I love tea. Tea is my favorite drink- hot, cold, sweet, unsweet-I love it all. So, on national tea day (April 21) I tried all the teas I had in my kitchen and rated them from best to worst.
This is just my opinion. Your opinion might differ from mine and that is completely okay. Just know that my opinion is correct and unless you agree with me, your opinion is wrong.
Without further adieu, these are my ten favorite teas.
Coming in at number #10 Twining's Irish breakfast tea
You'll notice a lot of black teas on this list, I just love black tea of all kinds. Irish breakfast is a really bold, full black tea, I like to think of it as the light roast black coffee of tea. It is delightful.
#9 Private selection's Chai black tea
Chai tea is exquisite. I love making chai lattes. I brew some chai tea, adding some extra cinnamon, brown sugar, and milk or cream. I highly recommend drinking chai tea like this
#8 Bigelow's Green tea
I love umami. I love dark chocolate and mushrooms and cheese and red meat. So, I obviously love green tea. And, I love it with just a bit of honey.
#7 Starbucks' London Fog/Earl grey
My Starbucks drink is a London Fog with cream instead of milk. If the temperature outside above about 72° F, I get it iced, and if it's below, I get it hot. My best friend, Daniel, and love the name, and I have a shortcut on my phone so that when I type "LF" it autocorrects to ✨ London fog ✨
#6 Twining's English breakfast tea-
This is a wonderful bold tea. It's a great mid-morning pick me up or for times when I need more of a boost than my usual darjeeling would give me. This happens to be my dad's tea of choice.
#5 Private selection's Oolong
I just drank a cup of this stuff. Oolong is an interesting tea. Green tea and black tea come from the same leaf. Black tea is oxidized, and green tea is not. Oolong is also made from the same tea leaves, but it has it's own category. Depending on the brand of oolong tea you get and how it's processed, it might taste more like black or green tea, but it usually has the umami flavor of green, and the fullness of a black tea. I love it.
#4- Celestial Seasonings' Chamomile tea
This tea is nice and mellow, it's my favorite way to wind down after a long day. Chamomile and a good book is always a great combination!
3rd place goes to- Brew La La's Mango ginger green tea
I got mango ginger green tea for Christmas from my parents, and it is fit for a king. Let me tell you, this stuff is so good. My favorite way to have tea with a teaspoon of sugar and some milk, and that is exactly how I have my mango ginger green tea, it is perfect.
The runner up is- Celestial Seasonings' peach tea
If you get the right peach tea, it can change your life. I don't mean Arizona or Peace Tea (although they are pretty darn good). I mean a nice Celestial Seasonings peach tea, brewed fresh with just a touch of raw sugar- taste like a peach ring. It is phenomenal.
And finally my number 1 favorite tea- Twining's Darjeeling
Darjeeling is like a mellow black tea. Most black teas, I drink with a splash of milk, but this one is isn't acidic or bitter at all. This has become my new go-to in the morning rather than english breakfast. It is absolutely wonderful.
